The Londonderry Basketball Club (LBC) hosted the girls division of its annual March Madness Tournament from March 5-11. The junior bracket drew six teams from both New Hampshire and Massachusetts to compete for a shot at the Championship. Coincidentally, the two teams that came out on top were the LBC sixth grade girls’ team, coached by Colleen Leach and fifth grade girls’ team led by Mark DeAngelis.

The majority of players from both teams spent the evening of Saturday, March 11 at Southern New Hampshire University, cheering on the Londonderry High School Lady Lancers in the Division I State Championship game, before facing off against one another on Sunday, March 11 for LBC March Madness Tournament title. The teams battled from tip-off to the final buzzer. The sixth grade team earned the victory with a final score of 33-25.

“These young female athletes have a great deal in common. Along with their families, they actively support girls’ athletics and their sister teams, said Suzanne Dumaresq, an LBC mom. “When it comes to playing each other, they acknowledge that they are close friends off the court and opponents on the hardwood. They inspire one another to be better ball players and they have fun doing it.”
